My top four daily prayers (duaa's)

Monday, August 28, 2017

We have entered the month of Dhul Hijjah, the month where Hajj is preformed and where Allah SWT has attached great importance and value to the first ten nights:

"By the Dawn; By the ten nights." (Surah Al-Fajr: 1-2)

The oath stresses the importance and greatness of these ten nights.

The Prophet pbuh also mentioned these ten nights by saying:

"There are no days in which righteous deeds are more beloved to Allah than these ten days."

One of the best ways we can take advantage of these days is by simply increasing our Duaa. Allah swt loves to hear from us,

"When my servants ask you concerning me, (tell them) I am indeed close (to them). I listen to the prayer of every suppliant t when he calls on me." (Surah al- Baqarah: 186)

Here are four of my favorite duaas:

1. Asking for forgiveness

"O Allah, You are my Lord, there is none worthy of worship but You. You created me and I am your slave. I keep Your covenant, and my pledge to You so far as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I admit to Your blessings upon me, and I admit to my misdeeds. Forgive me, for there is none who may forgive sins but You."

Reference:
Whoever recites this with conviction in the evening and dies during that night shall enter Paradise, and whoever recites it with conviction in the morning and dies during that day shall enter Paradise, Al-Bukhari 7/150.

2. Duaa for morning and evening

"Allah is sufficient for me . There is none worthy of worship but Him . I have placed my trust in Him, He is Lord of the Majestic Throne." (Recite seven times in Arabic).

Reference:
Allah will grant whoever recites this seven times in the morning or evening whatever he desires from this world or the next, Ibn As-Sunni (no. 71), Abu Dawud 4/321. Both reports are attributed directly to the Prophet j§ (Marfu1). The chain of transmission is sound (Sahih). Ibn As-Sunni.

3. Duaa before going to the Masjid (also my favorite)

What makes this duaa so specially to me is because subhanallah I feel you can tell that Allah SWT is pleased with someone based on the noor "light" in their face and I always pray to Allah SWT to grant me this noor and to always keep me surrounded by his guidance. Here it is:

"O Allah, place light in my heart, and on my tongue light, and in my ears light and in my sight light, and above me light, and below me light, and to my right light, and to my left light, and before me light and behind me light. Place in my soul light. Magnify for me light, and amplify for me light. Make for me light and make me a light. O Allah, grant me light, and place light in my nerves, and in my body light and in my blood light and in my hair light and in my skin light.1 [O Allah, make for me a light in my grave... and a light in my bones.](At-Tirmithi 5/483 (Hadith no. 3419).) [Increase me in light, increase me in light, increase me in light .](Al-Bukhari in Al-'Adab Al-Mufrad (Hadith no. 695), p. 258. See also Al-Albani, Sahih Al-'Adab Al-Mufrad(no. 536).) [Grant me light upon light.]" (Al-Bukhari, cf. Al-Asqalani, Fathul-Bari 11/118.)

4. Duaa After Tashahud (such a beautiful duaa)

"O Allah, by Your Knowledge of the unseen and by Your Power over creation, keep me alive so long as You know such life to be good for me and take me if You know death to be better for me. O Allah, make me fearful to You whether in secret or in public and I ask You to make me true in speech, in times of pleasure and anger. I ask you to make moderate in times of wealth and poverty and I ask You for everlasting bliss and joy which will never cease. I ask You to make me pleased with what You have decreed and for an easy life after death. I ask You for the sweetness of looking upon Your Face and a longing to encounter You in a manner which does not entail a calamity which will bring about harm nor a trial which will cause deviation. O Allah, beautify us with adornment of faith and make us of those who guide and are rightly guided."
